• Education The subject I chose for my bachelor’s degree thesis was the collapse of Bridge I-35W in Mississippi. I identified possible reasons for failure in the design by researching journals on the collapse and concluding that the probable cause of was from under-designed gusset plates. I then carried out structural analysis using Abaqus FEA package on gusset plates; offering alternative solutions to the original design in summary. The written presentation of this analysis gained me a first class pass. * For my masters year project I worked as part of a multi-disciplinary student team to design a blast wall for an offshore installation. Working as a team we researched different possible designs for the wall, before selecting the most applicable for our criteria. I controlled the design of the framework, the connections, and the simulation for the blast. I was awarded an upper second class pass for this project.
